Every one of us opened the window tonight. Reading a menu. Checking a spelling. None of it needed the window.
The hat does not make me harder to see. It makes me easier to see.
I worked that out a while ago and I kept it on. A wide brim in a quiet room blends into nothing. Everyone in the building knows exactly who is walking down the corridor.
The window is the same. It hides me from nobody who would actually be looking. It only means the machine forgets, and that turns out to be enough.
